Deadpool Movie Review

Wow, interesting and funny are the three words I would use to describe the film Deadpool. In light of the release of the first Deadpool and Wolverine movie coming out and how so many people both personally as well as on social media have hyped up this character, I’d thought it was time to bite the bullet and watch it. The Merck with a mouth’s first appearance on the silver screen came out in 2016 while 20th century Fox wasn’t a part of Disney. Ryan Reynolds portrays Wade Wilson/ Deadpool, and he knocked this performance out of the park.  Morena Baccarin played Vanessa Wade’s love interest/ lover. Then like all the great heroes and villains before him he has something unexpected happen to him, which makes him desperate enough to trust a shady co that promises to give him mutant powers. At this point, we all know the superhero movie general enough that Deadpool wins at the end and gets the girl at the end after leaving her completely at the beginning of the second act. With this review, I want to talk about what happened off-screen in the behind the scenes of the film. If you didn’t know or because it came out a while ago the story of Ryan Reynolds granting the wish of a Make-A-Wish kid who had the same cancer as Wade Wilson. So I am bringing this story up because it could be the acting or the character himself that brought in the gross income it got, but it could be that everyone wanted to support Ryan Renolds after what he did.  Deadpool as a character has always been a fan favorite, but to the modern fan of the famous comic giant, not many people knew exactly who he was unless you stepped into a comic bookstore. The reason why Ryan Reynolds loved playing Deadpool vs Green Lantern in 2011 was that his costume wasn’t real, but CGI the reason he complained was because of the story I mentioned earlier. I loved the 4th wall breaking that Deadpool does more than anything not just as a character, but it is done so well in the film that it seems to be unmatched by any singular character. Like every movie the artist's liberty doesn’t need to be explored for instance purposes, what I mean is just because it’s R doesn’t mean that every scene is nudity. To sum up everything up the movie was an interesting, fun experience that so many people if it’s up their ally with the humor because it is a bit dark, but if you can sit through that and the references to as well as showing nudity then this movie is just right for you. So with all this being said everybody should move on to the sequel and be ready for this summer Deadpool and Wolverine, which will officially bring the connection between the Fox side of Marvel and merge it with the MCU. Only time will tell where the character can go after the new movie takes us let alone comic books themselves, the same thing can be said for Ryan Reynolds still playing Deadpool.
